Kinja'd!!!

BBQ pork with garlic dill kraut (which was so good that I finished the entire jar after opening it for this sandwich), Stubbs spicy BBQ sauce and stone ground mustard.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Chili lime tuna with Parmesan and black olives over melted four-cheese slices.

Kinja'd!!!

Italian cold cut combo with prosciutto, capocollo, soppressata and melted provolone with oil, vinegar and oregano.

These were pretty much all done on the cheap using generic or markdown/sale items. Just because I’m poor doesn’t mean I have to eat like it...

I love the marked down bakery rack. So many good breads and desserts for a fraction of the price! Seriously my favorite thing about the grocery store. Combine that with clearance rack nice items , you can make a hell of a meal on the cheap. As you obviously know, based on this post. Looks great! Keep up the budget gourmet! Good food has certainly helped me through these strange times.

Since the stay at home order the markdowns haven’t been as good. I usually grab cheap meat and vacuum seal it, but in the last two weeks the stores have pretty much been picked over.

Bread items can usually be reconstituted using the microwave, broiler or a combination of both, or  slathered with condiments. I haven't been able to get affordable unsalted butter so I've had to make do with what I can find. I'm just glad I stocked up on TP and water months ago, way before thoughts of lockdown/quarantine...

An awful lot of great  Italian cuisine comes from inventions by the “poor” farmers who did what they could with what they had.

At my house, we have tons of TP. My roommate has always made us keep a stock. I also have tons of dry food and frozen veggies. The problem is, I am not home. I was in Europe 2 weeks ago so I decided to quarantine with my brother and his wife in Colorado. Their stock was not as good as mine and the stores have been out of stock on damn near all essentials. We have made it work but it was a very strange adjustment for me going to the store and not just buying what is on sale. We had to buy just whatever that had that was close enough to what we wanted. Definitely against all of my normal frugal shopping habits. Hopefully you have enough to last you for a while and you can avoid the store and general public.
